This forum no longer seems black hat. Before, everybody would talk about shortcuts, how to cheat the system, loopholes, etc, now everybody says "content, content, content" and "quality, quality, quality" well, that sounds white hat to me. Has G00gle got us by the balls? are we screwed?

black hat is no longer a viable option for long term results. Updates now come up regularily fixing all the "loopholes". so new blackhat techniques are and will always be developped, but you can't expect to rank for long terme as an update will inevitably fix the loophole and penalize the ones who use it. Black hat techniques are still good for fast and effective rankings but you can't expect to stay in the dark side if you want long term results.
 
seo in particular is in the what i call transition state. people will eventually find a workaround penguin. until then-we wait...
 
I think black hat will always be there to make people some quick money. But I really think that using good business practice is the best if you want longevity and stability.
 
Blackhat is not dead, but this section of the forum has been used as a general section since I've been here.
 
Many black hat methods aren't as viable as they used to be, but others are always being developed.

At best I wear a grey hat most of time... lol
 
I notice that the New tactics for BH that get around these update loopholes are kept really quiet. That's probably another reason why you don't see as much sharing in the forums. Either way, ranking with BH for most is just going to be temporary.

Do everything ethically and Google will still rape you in the ass.

I think being an affiliate sucks for the most part. Make your own products and let affiliates play the games of ducking and diving, not you.
 
The only thing that's happened in the last few years is that as big sites got more aggressive litigation-wise, BH supporters have gotten more careful about openly promoting tactics that can be plausibly argued to be illegal. Some may take the 'anti-fraud' stance too far, saying all BH ideas that are accused of involving fraud must be shunned (which is a slippery slope, since nearly any clever method can be rhetorically spun as misrepresentation in some way), but the new approach has not 'killed' the effectiveness of the techniques themselves, just their open discussion.
 
You need good content and good backlinks to rank nowadays.

That does not mean blackhat is dead. There are still ways to automate both good content and good backlinks. It's just not as easy as it once was. Google is adapting, now it's time for blackhats to do the same.
 
SEO wise, it seems bh is dead. Affiliate marketing wise, it's still strong. I'm using a new cookie stuffing technique to turn ~100 page views into $600+/mo.
 
Black Hat is not dead . Black Hat has its time and place. I think black hat is for the Pharma Industry because its quick profit. They need Black Hat because there shops open up for a while then they close and open new ones.
