I have read quite often recently that all backlinks except high quality backlinks (some times even them) are dead. I have a hard time to believe this since all my concurrents have a lot of spam-links. Actually like 90% of their links are from obvious linkfarms... But they still rank!

My theory is that Google now put more weight on how fast a certain amount of links are created. If I'm right that should mean that you are safe if you create like 200 links a week (instead of 2000 in 4 days).

What do you guys think? Any thoughts on this?

You heard it totally wrong buddy. Lots of backlink activity works really well. If you do it properly.

what a theory ...... you say how fast links are created and then you say you should slow the speed down ;)

Lol keep Reading those fucking blogs who claim they know how Googles alghoritim works than tell People backlinks don't work, till you check their website and see 5 million spam backlinks

Backlinks aren't dead. The integrity of the internet itself cannot exist without backlinks.

Whatever you've been reading- just stop.

You gotta try stuff out for yourself and collect your own data. There is so much conflicting information out there, and lots of 'theorists' would rather pontificate about why it 'wont work', rather than taking a risk and possibly failing.

Looking at your competitors' backlinks is an excellent place to start. You're absolutely correct in your observation that a lot of people get away with a lot of 'blackhat' links. There's always a risk involved. The people who are ranking are making the real money. The people who talk shit about how it's not safe are either making money off their 'expert blog', or making no money and wasting time posting on internet forums.

Not trying to be negative. I can relate to your situation. I'm often here refreshing threads looking for that one confirmation that 'SEO is dead'. Really its just my ego that is looking for any excuse not to try, because trying is uncomfortable.

Back links are totally dead and so is Google. Yahoo is taking over again.

Till you check their blogs and see that they are a SEO Guru that ranks for Jack wank.

I guess that sums it up... SEO is officially dead 2017. Better to spend money on Google adsense if you have a fetish for Google.

I shifted some of my budget to social signals...think this will pay off in the next months to year

Backlinks are not dead, it how you backlink ,and use what, to backlink a website.......

The way backlinks are added, and used to get a backlink ,has changed a lot from old days .....

Web2.0 are fantastic backlinks , in your niche.

Expired ariticles and domains are fantastic backlinks in your niche.

When knowing the web2.0 backlink stats anf there spam clean , there powerfull ...

There hundreds of web2.0 websites so backlinks are still alive....

There 3 main backlink rules and theories that work

Tiers

Tier 1 is main website.

Tier 2 is like tiar 1 but more spammy

Tier 3 full hit with spam , usally gsa blast.
