Iv been backlinking a site fore more than 2 months. All manual, 10 p/d. It should have approx 300+ links pointing to it. My problem is, when i check Yahoo it shows 38 backlinks. WTF!

They are profile and blog replies. I am #4 on the 1st page of Google but my competitors have 300+ and their domain names are as old as mine, only a few months. How is it that their backlinks show up whilst mine still shows 38?

Iv checked all my backlinks and most of them have been indexed by Google. So they why does Yahoo only show 38?

Should i continue with 10 links p/d? I only select PR9 8 7 - 4 site. Should have pushed my site over the edge by now with all that authority.

Is there a reason why backlinks are taking so damn long to show up even after they have been indexed?

I checked some of my other sites and the story is the same. I should have hundreds of backlinks not double digits.

Does Google need to run an update that its not running? What is the mystery to the no show links?

Don't worry about what Google's link operator and Yahoo's SiteExplorer say -- keep focused on the SERPs.

Are you sure those blogs aren't using rel=nofollow on your comments? That could really ruin your day.

You might use something like XRumer to ensure that the pages which are linking to you get indexed by G and Y.

Their all do follow and mixed of course.

Just to clarify, how do you know that your competitors' links are showing up?
You added 300 and 38 shows. You see they have 300, but maybe they added 4000 and complains that it shows only 300?

I second that :) smart observation

You can't really base your rankings off of yahoo explorer. They just catch some of what is going on. If they showed 0 links then you'd have a problem. Just keep building links and get into position #1.

You're losing the psychological war.

Just keep on keepin' on.

If you are concerned about backlinks showing up. I have one big question - why do you only have 300 in 2 months. You do realize that many people do 300+ a day.

Give SEO Spyglass a try - free 30 day trial and if you look around here there is the whole suite.

But, you aren't going to do much in the serps at 300 backlinks in 2 months.

Yeah you need to work on the volume... I try to get at least 1k/day posted. 300 in two months won't get you too far.

quantity is not everything, if you post 1K/day those are mostly low quality links, if he is adding 10/day they may be og high quality. Numbers in not everything

~40-50% are pr4+, and usually 20-30 pan out to be edu links. But whatever floats your boat...

If you are getting at least 400-500 pr4 links per day to each of your sites then you are or will be very very rich soon. Congrats. Just double check if that PR is on the pages you submit or on home pages :D

If you are keeping a list of all of your backlinks, try some of the different strategies to get your backlinks indexed. Rolling them into RSS feeds, backlinks to your backlinks, posting your backlink url's on web 2.0 properties, etc.

I agree with the others that you should keep moving ahead. You can really waste a lot of time looking backward too much.
