Is Instagram comment / like / dm automation still effective? Is it still possible?

Its risky , some bots are still working but , you will easily get action blocked time to time.
And sometimes you should do verification and your page become unavailable until verification is done.

Growbot works for me and it's free. But the gold days of 1k follows a day I think are over. Maybe 200-300 can be done though.

It's far from dead, but not easy as before. You gotta be careful nowadays. Watch your actions count, mix actions, get good proxies (4G) and good accounts.

What type of software does everyone use?

Different, apart from a few that haven't been updated, all software works more or less, but the blocks are from IG, you will get them even if you follow too many manually, on your mobile phone.
There is no silver bullet.

Automation no matter what platform it is including IG will never die.. It is like saying SEO is dead!

I will give you a short workflow that summarizes how to be successful in automation:

1.Learn to code
2.Create bot
3.???
4.Fail
5. Learn to code
6.Create bot
7.???
8.Fail
9.Learn to... etc

Keep doing this till Fail turns into Profit.

Still possible just that it takes either a bit of money to test stuff out + buy a private bot or it takes knowledge and patience to make one yourself.

Yes, need to learn code to be ahead of others. For example mass view stories was good way to get traffic but when popular bots added this function - IG updated and it stopped working like before.

One thing I noticed actually is that the content really matters on when you follow people nonstop. How insta algo works here I think is when you follow and the user comes to your page, how connected are feel to my page. The less they just bounce and actually engage, the less follow-blocks I'm gonna get and probably get other leniences . And this makes perfect sense in the overall user experience standpoint.

Proxies are important, account age and limited actions.

I believe if you have a large Instagram account and limited experience it’s extremely tough to perform efficient automation without a lot of risk.

Risk to reward ration is trash if you’re not an expert.
