Hey, i am wondering if auto blogs are still popular. I am thinking of starting few. Or should i just create an authority site and monetize it.

Thanks

wouldnt recommend auto blogging in 2013. IMO the boat has sailed, dont waste your money.

what would you recommend?

Classic autoblogging is dead. Google for http://www.google.com/search?q=content+automation+plugin.

Autoblogging worked and will probably always work as is SEO, just the game changes.. You need better quality content nowadays and better backlinks.

Anyways, there's more profitable stuff nowadays, like youtube + cpa/pdd and other methods you can find in the "money making" section here..

Yes it is working for me.
But don't think that auto blogging is just buying one product (plugin) and let it run.
It's more complex and you need to do a lot of experiments yourself.
Nobody will share money making secrets.

And everything is about big scales.
So, 5 domains (5 blogs) will not make you profit, but 500 will.

pretty well said! Autoblogging is always about big quantities!

If you're referring to low quality content (auto-generated, spinned..) then the chances are close to zero to rank well such a blog.
The authority site (quality and unique content), if everything is planned well, has good chances to gain organic traffic, for the long term.

My autoblog got banned already, so I wouldn't recommend you for starting an autoblog. Authority sites are better if you have patience...

Actually even one properly made self-populating website will make a profit, but not too much of course (the best of my auto-resources do about $100-$200/mo). So yes, the power of self-populating sites in their number. Those who run a content automated network (300, 500 over even more self-hosted sites) do thousands and thousands of $ on autopilot.

However I doubt anyone will reveal their strategies here or show their sites. The only "secret" I can share: you will surely fail if you decide to use the old autoblogging techniques (these that worked before Panda) and non-professional scripts that do the most of work for you and allow you to create an autoblog with a few mouse clicks. Because... there are 1000's of others that use the same scripts, same content sources, same boring text-based WP templates (do you like to visit boring autogenerated textual splogs?), and same old techniques to create "awesome autoblogs with a few clicks".

Got banned? Ok, I believe that now know which exactly script(s) you were using there :) See my post above.
