is AppSumo Business model dying off?

I have bought some great LF software deals on Appsumo in the past few years, but lately I have noticed a decline in the quality and variety of the products offered. Moreover, many of the lifetime products seem to be abandoned or neglected by their founders, with no updates or support.

I wonder if the market for lifetime software deals is slowly dying or if Appsumo is not doing a good job in selecting and promoting them.

I have spent like $5K in more than 100 deals, Plus for two years.
The reality is that I barely use 3 or 4 deals I've bought over the time in total.
Still, they have a place in the market, and still they try to drop some interesting deals now and then.
I don't purchase Appsumo Plus anymore because I stick to only 1 deal per year at most (some deal that I've seen recommended everywhere like Facebook, Reddit and forums).
And still the deals are bad. For example Neuronwriter, have been recommended a lot everywhere in the planet, and still I find it a very bad deal. Yes, it's cheap if you compare with Surfer SEO, but still it's like buying a cheap car to commute. Yes, you can commute without A/C with 40ºC out there, but still commuting on a better car with A/C is always more comfortable.
I don't think that Appsumo will die anytime soon, but their hype has dropped significantly, which doesn't necessarily means a imminent death
 
I used to open Appsumo every day but haven't checked them out for months now. Most tools were repetitive and vast majority of them were only looking to trap you. Ton of upsells if you want to use all the functions.
 
Appsumo is a great way to launch LTD´s on, when you don´t sell any more just start a new product and sell another LTD. Appsumo has become the place for fast money from entreprenuers that are only after your money and make a quick buck since it now has a huge reach of customers.

So, you wanna make money start a new product and sell a couple of thousands of LTD´s. Eat, Start, Sleep and Repeat .. =)
 
Lifetime deals are not sustainable for anyone anyway. Those deals are just gimmicks used for marketing their tools.
 
They take 50%, so that could be one of the reasons software companies don't cooperate with Appsumo anymore.
 
Definitely, the issue is on the product side
I mean, that's one of the reason why it's a Lifetime deal
 
they gotta improve with time. .earlier founder did not had channels, now founder go to tiktok and make content to get product know , youtueb and more.
when they started appsumo..it was good.. now i think they need to innovate. but they are big now.. will take them time to implement innovations.
 
It's not dying but the quality of products offered isn't the same it's a fact that there are projects getting abandoned.
I guess the 60-day money back guarantee is hurting a lot of products too.
I might have spent around $200 in total over the years, and all these are the LTD's that I use on regular basis.
Stacksocial is another one where I have had few LTD's.
Out of all the deals 1 from AppSumo died and from Stacksocial closed after 4 years.
Overall, I've had good experience with these platforms
 
Any business offering a lifetime deal is a red flag. You can't sustain a business long term by handing out lifetime deals.

they give 70% also, you need to know how to deal with them. DO NOT GO SELECT.
 
As others have said - I think a lot of businesses (app builders/etc) may have initially thought they'd make a lot of extra $$$, but quickly realized it wasn't what they thought it was - plus tends to attract freebie seekers/etc (which is not really what businesses want)... Kind of like 'groupon'... Initially - lots of businesses thought it would be fantastic - until you just had professional 'freebie seekers' that just looked for (and only USED) "deals". Not really sustainable for a business. So while I am not 100% totally familiar with appsumo (haven't personally used it, but did read about it 1-2 years ago) - I suspect it may be the same kind of thing.
 
there is a lot videos promoting appsumo deals these days or only i see that ?
is just a temp hype ... ?
