What kind of bugs are there? I haven't run into any yet.

Someone needs to make a windows 10 theme for winamp, the best media player ever. Bento and Big Bento seems nice on windows 10 but they are still lacking in smoothness to go with windows 10.
That's too bad.. I have Kodi but it's not been the most user friendly program to use or find certain programs. Easy to find movies though if that's your thing.
I will say the screenshots of Windows 10 look pretty cool. Looking forward to trying out the browser too.
Win10 is a good system. I updated 2 days ago both my PC and laptop.
On the laptop I updated from a Win7 (with some programs installed) and now the system size is about 18GB. Win10 was about 15 GB right after the installation, IIRC, but afterwards it made few updates. The automatic update feature can be disabled by disabling the corresponding system service (wuauserv.exe)
On the PC I updated from Win8.1, I'll make a clean Win10 install in a few days.
The guys that tell it's buggy have no idea on what they're talking about. It's a very good OS. And it can be configured accordingly to your needs

I haven't experienced any bugs with Windows 10 itself. So far, the only issue I've had is with Microsoft Edge; the make a note feature doesn't always work, it arbitrarily refreshes when I'm posting on BHW, and it doesn't always render images correctly (jagged edges). I have legit copy of Windows 8.1. If I upgrade, will I get Wondows 10 free for lifetime? I had reserved a copy via Windows upgrade app and now it's available for me.

Ubuntu isn't really that good still there are loads of awesome programs on windows platform that have no equal on Ubuntu. I do like ubuntu more since for some reason I get like 16% faster upload speeds compared to windows 7/8/8.1 with filezilla. I haven't tried filezilla on windows 10 yet.

Ubuntu is awesome for those who are not into Graphic Designing. Even my office machine has dual boot Ubuntu and Win 8.1. It's a pain for doing designs though. GIMP is nothing compared to Photoshop and please don't say use Wine. It's better to use a VM than that.. lol.

Everyone should read this no matter what you've done or plan to do. I'm not writing all this out for you guys because I have a hatred for Microsoft, just a lot of under the hood technical experience. I won't be upgrading for a while. Take it from a computer scientist (Or don't) but here's my assessment...
Stay safe
- Windows 10 has a nice interface. This however makes no difference because you can make 7 or 8.1 (I run 8.1) look however you want. You can make the interface just like 10.
- It has many bugs. This is typical of new major versions of Windows. Just yesterday I was in the windows chat on Freenode and people were complaining about all kinds of things. It usually takes several months before the basic kinks are worked out.
- Not all software and hardware will be compatible with it yet. Most probably will be but not all.
- The new privacy policy is horrendous, with or without Cortana. It states things like that Microsoft will keep copies on their servers of all your emails, contacts, info on all devices on your network, your physical location(s), web and search history, and the most outrageous of all, your personal files no matter what folders you put them in. Also included I believe is access to your microphone and webcam. Microsoft always says you can opt out by disabling this or that but in Windows 8.1 I've observed that even if you opt out, Windows still runs those processes and those processes still send the data to Microsoft. I had to create special firewall rules and write my own scripts to block my data from being sent to them. Every single thing I opted out of was still active and transmitting data until I took drastic measures. I haven't had time to go through 10 and do that yet and it will be much more difficult with 10. As neat as Cortana might be it's not worth installing 10 for under these terms.
- Security is a big issue. They claim 10 is more secure and in some ways, someday it might be but that's always inherently a false claim for a new OS that WILL ship with many security vulnerabilities they don't even know about yet. It won't be close to half secure until the first service pack.
- I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure I heard that 10 doesn't give you control over Windows Update. It silently, incrementally auto updates you in the background.
- Most of the security vulnerabilities that hackers have already discovered won't start being attacked in mass until 10 has a large user base and thus they won't be patched for a while.
- 10 is slower than 8.1 and 7. Benchmarks have proven that unlike usual upgrades, rather than a performance increase, this time you're getting a slight decrease in speed across the board.
- This is how I analyze and treat each version of Windows and I've never been given such reasons for pause as in this release. Someday after it's been pounded on, patched, made stable, and the privacy violations can be mitigated (I'd be happy to share my scripts once I've done that) I'll consider upgrading. I even plan on writing code that restricts what Cortana can access but until 10 has been thoroughly vetted I'll stick with the latest stable version of Windows that just happens to not have Cortina.
- I'll leave you with this: Even if you don't care one bit about your privacy, 10 is just not stable and secure enough yet. I wouldn't even let a Win10 machine join my network at this point. I know you all want to install it and in a way so do I but I learned my lesson a long time ago in regards to prematurely upgrading software, in particular my operating systems. For now I'd stick with 8.1 and if you want the new interface there are tools online that can do that for you. If you want a personal assistant like Cortana in the meantime there are third party softs for that too.
