you can still do it in moderation as part of your link diversification; this is particularly popular with local SEO; pbnbutler is one of the services doing it, but I am sure there is a thread here doing it as well.

Not sure if it works but a recent submission on a famous site saw people paying good money to skip the line. So yeah..people still do it in hordes

Probably he asked about massive submission like Xrumer did (or does).
What have i mentioned is that links from catalogues still work fine if:
- they are local targeted to a promoted keywords
- the description of your website is unique and filled correct
- there are clicks and visitors from the directory.
The last point is not the least but the most valuable one.

no not really, i'm looking for decent quality not quantity...
also, free directories were already quite overcrowded several years ago, what would a unique description do if you don't get accepted?

I think submission in directories is waste of time now days.

That was a list of sites rankerx uses for posting to. You could also manually post with them.

Yes, Directory submission is still working. All you need to check the quality of directory site. who wanna skip stable link for an year.
