Is amazon affiliate worth doing?

Created a site few weeks ago to get back into Amazon again, to have multiple income streams. Sold a $950 product the other day just to get $28...what is that? I remember when I was getting $28 for $100 products. Also, sold one $100 product and my cut is $1..wtf?

Amazon is popular and easier and that's why it has the hype.
When you do your niche/product research you should also search for affiliate networks other than amazon.
Most of the time there are better paying options.
One such platform that I have used is shareasale.
You can find many other options just invest some time in researching them.

Like any business model, it CAN be. But there are things to keep in mind
#1 They've reduced commissions massively over the years, and there's no reason to think that trend won't continue. They may pull the plug entirely. They have zero loyalty to affiliates and you mean absolutely nothing to them.
#2 They can and will ban you for any reason they like, you likely won't be able to speak to anyone and almost nobody gets their affiliate account reinstated. Their TOS are vague and extensive, so you're likely to fall short somewhere. They hold earnings (each months earnings get held for 2-3 months from memory). And they will keep it all if they ban you.
So if you want to invest the time and energy building up a business on a foundation that is essentially a tightrope, you can do it, but it's worth considering backup options in case Amazon screws you over at a moments notice. So if you're building Amazon affiliate sites, make sure you can monetise them some other way, because if they're built 100% with Amazon in mind, then you're completely at their mercy.

High conversion rate is to be expected with Amazon, 20 to 30% on $50-$100 items in my experience. The cool thing is that 30 to 60% of the items bought through your link are from unrelated products (the ones you aren't linking directly to) in my experience. It's easy to set up and almost everyone is accepted. The downside is that the commission can be painfully low for some (most tbh) items.
