At the moment I'm mainly in SEO and Domain selling, I've been looking into am for a while now but a few people have told me that it's oversaturated now. I know it takes trial and error, my own initiative, and most of the old methods won't work anymore but what are your thoughts, has it gotten harder over the past few years?

A niche gets saturated, a product gets saturated, but a business model doesn't, unless there is major tech progress that shifts things up, and the truth about digital marketing is that it benefits from technological progress.

Thanks for the reply, yeah I suppose as people get more familiar with what's going on its just thinking out the box and adapting to the environment

Your question is the same as saying

"Is the restaurant business saturated"

No... a lot of restaurants die but it does not mean that restaurants are not a viable business anymore.

Thanks for the reply, this is true however less amount of people have the capital to go into a restaurant business. This makes it easier because there is less competition in the area and it works on a geo basis as you can only physically visit a certain amount of places depending on where you are and what you want. This makes it more of an investment.

You could always carve out a space for yourself.

Its not saturated. The barrier to entry is getting higher. The bar is not lowering but getting higher. All due to google giving more importance to authority site and less to new sites.
You win authority you win AM.

You need to bring something new to the table. You need to bring lots of value and built a brand.

Yes, every business is like that.

The lower the barrier of entry, the more saturated it is.

ok, I'm going to find a few unique niches and test out a few things.

Nothing is called saturation. Depending on how you make a difference from others in the market, and get received by others.

There are ALWAYS gonna be new products. Unless manufacturers start giving away their products for free, there always gonna be a middleman. I strongly believe that affiliate marketing will be relevant until the times when social interaction standards fundamentally change.

saturation 100% exists, doing something different if it works is just simply working around it.

yeah, I think I'm going to prioritize the product or niche I go into over the actual strategy I use.
