Is Alexa even useful?

Alexa is very useful for me, I find some important information about my competitors and use it myself to beat them. As for the ranks, it doesn't really matter imo.

I don't want to open another topic, so I'll post my question here.

How can you see more than the top 10 countries visiting a site in alexa? Is is possible?

For example I wanted to know alexa rank in canada for the site alibaba dot com

I am pretty sure it doesn't help your website, however that doesn't mean it's worthless.

I use it from time to time to check some info when checking on competition. I can't tell how or even does it have any effect on ranking. Probably not.

@bixfox

Helpful in what way? People brag about their alexa rank like they brag about their BBB rating (which ofc defaults to A+).

99% useless in my opinion, especially given how people use the internet completely differently now than when alexa began.

Its useless as a metric but can give you an idea on where authority sites stand.

Your alexa rank helps make it a little bit easier to sell your site if you have a good ranking, it's also interesting to see how well you're ranking compared to other tops sites.

Useful for what, worthless for what? is the better question. While it is an inaccurate gauge of traffic for small sites (as those stats can be easily manipulated), it becomes more reliable for quickly identifying the top 50,000-100,000 sites (which are not easy to manipulate). Alexa is not useful for SERP or SEO purposes---meaning it IS useful if you're not pursuing SERP, or ranking in the search engines for traffic.

As a famous thread by Ferma here showed, it is useful approximate tool for identifying the top sites traffic-wise for use in setting up link-thru traffic. There is another game in town for getting traffic than Google, and a tool doesn't have to be precise to be valuable. The "it's worthless" chant on this thread represents a SEO-based marketing bias.
