Is AI bringing a new generational gap?

It seems that nowadays, kids can't afford any more to write their thoughts directly without passing them first through the filter of an AI

I'm starting to see this consistently in any kind of UGC media like Reddit or even this forum. What some years ago was a basic post with a couple of unordered thoughts, now it's an ultra-well-structured report with titles and sometimes subtitles.

I was reading this guy commenting, that basically this AI-driven communication is happening because people would prefer not to look foolish with a poor quality of writing (specially if they are not English native), than just writing their thoughts naturally.

With this argument, I'm not sure if this is a matter of laziness now. Maybe it's legit, that people feel worse than I thought.

Or perhaps I'm getting old AF with this new AI trend and despite I could be working on more advanced AI tech stuff, I can't feel the urge to ask the AI to help me whenever I'm simply writing in any UGC platform (not even for helping me improve my writing which I care about less than nothing)

Definitely ai is getting a generational gap, the technological familiar generation is adapting and using it whereas the old gen use it like google

I think that this is a difficult question to answer because it is overly specific and encourages a certain kind of answer.

In my opinion, it is more imporatant to ask why people in general are relying upon AI in this way and how we got here. What does this reliance on AI say about us, our education systems, our work, and so on? What does it say about us as parents that we raise our children on electronics thereby encouraging them to process reality and develop through them rather than alongisde them?

Hardly anyone knows a good enough reason NOT to use ai, and there are a plenty. If people can only express themselves via ai's then by all the strength of heaven and earth, is it easier to stand out, and be better than them without overusing ai directly, and making it your slave, rather than your master. Bend over Mr Slave. I'm sure in South Park before Lemmiwinks starts his "journey" those words are uttered. lol

But honestly, I see it more like this:
A lot of people (especially non-native speakers) just want their posts to sound clear and confident. If AI helps them express ideas better or avoid misunderstandings, I don’t see it as fake—it’s just a tool, like spellcheck back in the day.

Sure, it can feel “too polished” sometimes, but the flip side is that we’re also seeing more people able to share value who maybe wouldn’t have posted at all before.

At the end of the day, it still comes down to what people are saying, not just how they say it. That’s what I pay attention to.

many of them don't even have thoughts, they are just zombie parrots repeating whatever those biased AI tools say, just copy and paste

zero critical thinking, if chatgpt or grok say, then it must be true
it's funny because a few years ago people thought that old people were naive and stupid because they believed in any shit on internet...and now young guys do the same with AI, this world is going to shit

I am grateful for these days. The most brilliant thing many people can think of using ai for is writing. This is the time that we can use it for easy profits before everyone gets smarter ideas or new regulations.

I understand the idea behind your reasoning but to some extent this is what is pissing me off (maybe the generational gap I'm talking about, I don't really know). What you called polished answers for me are answers that I cannot read past the first sentence.

They don't feel compelling to me. As soon as I see such degree of structure my brain clicks off and I can't simply continue reading. I used to answer a ton of guys in the past that could hardly write with a little of effort and patience. But now I see those same guys using AI for their topics and as I say, my brain clicks off and moves away immediately. Maybe I will get used to it over time? I doubt it.

Maybe you wrote your message with AI to prove your point. Maybe LLM will adapt to the context over time and answer with more easy to "connect" language. Who knows what will happen in the future. But the current state of art for UGC is dreadful.

Yes, AI is really changing how people write online. It's not just laziness- many feel pressure to sound perfect, especially if english isn't their first language. It's more about communication is changing, not just about age.

It's a digital evolution or revolution. I kinda like it. Remember spelling and Grammer nerd wanna be bullies in previous generations? Well that problem got resolved by itself.

AI is making people dumb, kids now a days writing their applications, resumes and everything using AI. They are not using an ounce of their brain. It wont be good for humans in long run.
