So theres many keywords that have lots of search volume but little traffic and then there's the opposite. What are your experience are they reliable?
Is ahrefs traffic/clicks reliable?

Ahrefs traffic is just 10-15% of real traffic that you are getting according to search console and analytics..

Quick and short answer no!
They estimate based on what information they have if any... I've seen some estimations be way out there's a KW they have down as traffic = 200 per month for position 1.
I hold that slot and I get well over 4,000 visits per month from it.

I don't use ahrefs... but use moz as it's free (well, through free trials as i refuse to pay for these rubbish tools).
And i can say that moz estimates have nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with real traffic. I think it's the same for ahrefs.

I would have to say yes. Even tho its only estimation, they still have most data and in most cases it will be correct. Are they 100% correct? No.

The data they get will only improve as more people use the service hence the free WMT tools they are now offering.
I bet if you entered the market selling dog shaped toothbrushes Ahrefs would be showing the traffic as maybe 0 because they have no other reference point to base that estimation off i.e no other user in their DB has a page or traffic flowing from that KW to the site.. but your own market research and site traffic can see there is a demand for it that dog shaped toothbrush is getting you a million visits a month.
Some extreme example but at least that's how I've always considered how they work. Thats why some niches seem to be on point while others are wild estimations..

The only accurate search volumes your going to get is from bing since they release the info openly. Everything else is best guess.
