Is Ads always at the top in google search?

Hi,

My company produces an unique material called machinable glass ceramic. It is used in critical area only.
We try to push up the google search result in search page and realized the "Ads" always occupied the top.
Is it the only way is to pay google to occupied the top spot?
Or there is any other way in SEO?

This is how their advertisement system works...
If anyone bids on the keyword, they will always be on top...
If nobody bids on your keyword, you can be on top with SEO if you get your rankings ofc ;-) ...

Not exactly on the top always, but depending on the bid with respect to the keyword, an ad is displayed. You can secure the top spot on top page i.e 1st page, but buddy its the ad which will be above your ranking as they wana earn money. And alot of sites have amazing seo and still they bid on the same keyword.. probably to build a sense of trust as ad is also of same website and organic ranking as well.. need good efforts in both to get a conversion (what ive noticed since years)

Ads have their dedicated spot on the SERP and it is usually at the top but they're still distinguishable from regular search result.
Amongst the ads, yours would only be displayed if it wins the bid for that spot at that time. Basically everyone(advertisers) sets their price, whoever has the highest would be displayed the most

It's an ad auction. You pay the most and you can have the top spot. There are a few technicalities but that's the basis of it.

If he want me to market our machinable glass ceramics, he may want to consider to spend money for the ad auction.

I suggest he hire someone who knows what they are doing. Google eats ad noobs up like it's nothing. You can watch thousands of dollars disappear with nary a conversion in a heartbeat.

Ads always on top because people/advertisers pay for it.

If you want seo traffic, you can target keywords from different angle. If you can get top spot and get visitors, you can presell them in your blog/site.

I don't bid on clicks above $10-20 but some keywords go into the hundreds of dollars.

To be right at the top of Google search results the ONLY way is Google Ads, as the top 3 or 4 in the search results are ads done through Google Ads and below those are the organic search results (optimized through SEO). Your's (machinable glass ceramic) does not seem to be competitive keyword, so try ranking through BOTH Google Ads and SEO. Your Google Ads keywords cost per click will not be high for machinable glass ceramic or glass ceramic and here at BHW marketplace there are SEO providers, you can check what they offer.
