Is adding new content worth the cost? Or just do PBN?

    Hi,

so the question is quite clear. Lets say that i have a website about "car insurance". There are like 4-5 pages incl. the homepage that get absolutely the most of the visitors (maybe 90 %).

Should I just focus all my resources to building links using my PBN and writing articles for the PBN or is it worth adding new content to the money site?

Somehow I am not conviced that its worth it - i have the resources to add 30 new articles to the money site per month, but uhm, what benefit does it bring if i will write about the same keyword again and again? I think that Google will just ignore those articles, because it will be content canibalization. I dont think that there are a lot of different keywords in this niche, so how can i come up with so many articles so that they wont be too similiar?

So would you just work on the PBN or add articles to money site too? Why?

Find more longtail keywords in your niche. Add more content to your money site with those keywords since you said you have the resources. Simultaneously add more content to your PBN as well and link out to all the main keyword and brand in a random fashion from those PBNs.

Also ensure that you do good internal linking within your money site using exact match keywords from one article to another. This itself can push the rankings of those longtails while your PBN links concentrate on your main keyword.

Depends on your niche and competition. The first question is always how you compare to your competitors in content and links, and then focus on building up your weaknesses.

How much content do you competitors have? How often do they post new content? You definitely don't want to post content so bland and unoriginal that Google thinks your content is spun or acting as doorway pages, but there's usually more than enough fodder to keep writing articles, either on news, or by a particular location, etc. But if you've already covered everything your competitors did and more, then maybe you're at the point of diminishing returns.

Same goes with putting resources towards PBN or your own site: look at your competitors. Are you way ahead of them in links? Equal? Behind? If you're anything but way ahead, and you think you've maxed out the content you can put on your site, then, sure, put it into the PBN.

The question is what benefits should those articles bring your visitors. I suggest adding content that is meaningful to your visitors on a regular basis and then grow your PBNs along side the money site.

If there are additional keywords that you could target using internal pages then why not?

I would add more content to the money site. I would want Google to know that I am expert in my niche.

To do that, try expanding on points in the lead article that visitors will find interesting (and will read). For example, could you write tips or a guide on finding the best car insurance deal, or advice on how often to renew? Could you write about differences in prices in different parts of the country? You should be able to get up to 20-30 articles easily.

Content by itself will not help you. You then need to push those articles on social media (try using the free follower retweet services) and build some links to them (such as from real articles on real blogs). If the content is engaging, you shouldn't have a problem with links to it.

Once I hit a certain content breakpoint on my site, say 15 articles per category page, I start slowing down on the content drip-rate and only schedule posts every other week or so. This way it keeps my site fresh in Google's eyes, but doesn't cost me all that much.

If you're solely looking for filler content at this point, there are a few new sellers in the marketplace that have $5~ for 1,000 words that produce great filler content for your money site (grammatically correct, researched, SEO formatted, and looks like it was written by someone educated in the U.S.). I'm going to be loading up on this stuff while it's cheap and scheduling it out for the next year or so.

Once you have enough base content on the site to which you feel Google can establish relevancy, turn your primary focus onto off-page SEO while slowly dripping new filler articles.

    Works for me, at least.

Not all niches require hundreds of articles to become an authority. You can rank with less pages.

But fresh content is one of the many factors that will give you boost.

Difficult to make a suggestion without knowing your niche. You could create one per month that is really useful for the visitors. Or add a blog/news section on your site and keep posting industry news and analytics and link back to some of your main pages.
