Just a quick question really. If I build a website and get traffic from CL to go to the site via emails of mine. They click on an affiliate link. My tracks are covered by that alone right? The affiliate company can't find out where the traffic came from is this correct?

I think they can't but would really like some opinions on this. thanks guys.

Assuming you don't want your network to see your lander page, you'll want to cloak your URL (see www.tracking202.com).

Make another whitehat looking lander page and put your affiliate ad with the same cloaked URL on it. This is the site you will show to the networks. Also you can send junk traffic here to lower your conversion rate.

If you're sending people a link to your site via email, and when they get to your site they're clicking on your affiliate link, then no, the affiliate company cannot tell that your traffic came from CL. However, they can always contact a few of your leads and ask them how they heard about the offer.

my hosting account (dreamhost) got terminated when a guy from CL reported my email containing a link towards my landing page

to answer your questions CL >email> Landing page> Affiliate. the affiliate will see youre landing page as the referer. Assuming your not doing anything shady youre fine from that angle.

However alot of affiliates will randomly contact your leads that do convert and ask how they got there. If he mentions CL ad.. you're kinda dead in the water depending on their terms.

or... u can use brads referrer faker (its on this forum) and may have a higher convert rate right from their email boxes

but the way your doing it now is fine
