Let's say I'm an expert at a certain big niche that could easily give me 30k members in a year. How much does a forum like that with 30,000 members earn per month? Is it profitable? What are the ways to effectively monetize a forum?

it is profitable trust me. even if you only display ad-sense or cpa links you will get pretty nice ROI,
not mentioning donations or pay for access sections.

thanks for the advice, i forgot about that part about VIP access monetization:) I guess it really is profitable, thanks again for the suggestion:)

forumgen - brilliant for when ur start off to fake shit and get people to appear sooner rather than later!!!

Forums are great money makers! With the targeted traffic, you can easily promote CPA/Affiliate products. Not to mention adsense/donations and sections that may be added once your forum proves to be successful.

I have a live forum... has less than 1000 members (never did SEO or any promotion) and is getting 4-6$ daily. I know this is a very small number but as i mentioned, it just launched 3 months ago and has less than 1000 members.. I never even put anything more than adsense..

Sure it is profitable, if done right. You might want to check this video out:

Excerpt:
Warren Jolly's site started out as little more than a message board for web entrepreneurs who were running affiliate ads, but he was determined to grow its revenue. So he talked to his customers, and what he heard taught him how to bring his revenues up to $400,000 per month.

Is it profitable? Look what Harro is driving lol

kidding aside, like anything on the web, it can be EXTREMELY lucrative if done right. And yes, forum generator rocks.

I will also start a forum for a friend who is into reiki, naturo-therapy etc.
Will tell you guys how it goes

err.. ive had bad experience with dreamhost.. i run a big board and they kicked me out for apparently no reason even when i was paying them 160 $ per month on their vps.

Yes be careful with dreamhost, they kicked me because my blogs were taking up too much memory when spiders came in. When they kick you it's no warning, suddenly your site doesn't work.

what forum software would you suggest ? is there any nulled versions on the forum?

i heard that bhw gets avg 100 ppl donating each day so do the math

the maintenance must be a pain in the ass though...it seems time consuming. Then you gotta pay admin and such. Seems like there is alot work running a forum unless it is not an interactive one, but, then it wouldn't be a forum would it.

i heard that bhw gets avg 100 ppl donating each day so do the math

36500 people a year donating.
$3`579`300 per year

from the front page: Active Members: 20,538

The figures dont add up.
Especially with the xrumer bots and the % of people in a thread with the donor tag which is about 1% at quick glance.
