Is a .com extension 100% needed for dropshipping?

Hello all,

Brand new to the site, dropshipping and IM, I am looking to start a shopify store and market on FB and Instagram. I have found a perfect domain where the .com is taken but the .co.uk is available.

I am based in the UK but will obviously want to ship worldwide.

Do you think this could limit my sales? every video I have watched says get the .com.

Wondering if anyone else has success with different extensions as I don't want to fall at the first hurdle.

ok so I'm back to the drawing board....

I have found longer available domain names with the .com extension but they are like 19 characters with the word "the" in. (up from 12 with a .co.uk domain)

Should these be avoided and why?

my initial thought is the domain shouldn't matter to much if the product page is great, unless im missing something?

It's called a top level domain, not extension.

Technically no difference. But .com is better for world wide.
