Is a channel on multiple topics a good idea?

I was thinking of starting a YT channel but I don't wanna focus on just one niche, for example, my first video would be a list, my second would be a CGP Grey style explanation video.
Actually that's it, I don't plan anything more than doing lists and explanation videos, some on health, some on movies, games etc.
Is that a good idea?

It's a good idea, a lot of people make channels for more that one niche, but you have to do quality content.

Yeah its fine as long as your not planning on spamming the channel with crap videos.

Two things to consider:

1. Covering multiple niches is fine, but you'll need to ramp up your rate of publishing new videos, so even if a given user is only interested in 1 out of 5, they're still engaged because an interesting vid is coming out every 1-2 weeks.

2. You yourself have to be engaging. If people like watching *you*, irrespective of the material, you're more likely to get and retain subscribers who want to hear your take on things, even if they're not things they'd normally be interested in.
