is 5% a good commission for affiliate program?

5% is way too low for anyone with physical products where they have to get the customers for you. Amazon pay low but they have the brand and the network to back it up. Im guessing you need this product promoted in the US, UK, etc and for a 5 dollar commission you cant even buy a Mcd here. Look at places like Moreniche and Markethealth and you will find the going rates for these type of things and how they keep their affiliates happy selling their products. Most of their pills, potions and creams are probably just like any other but the affiliate is earning about 20/30 dollars etc. That's why they sell them.

5% is too low for skin care products, I see skincare products with $30+ commission. No one going to promote your product with that low commission.
 
5% ? No, it's too big, people here usually stick with aff program with 1-2% of commission, they're happy to earn few bucks, sometimes aff program send just gift cards for food and people still happy. Think about this. May be better stick with food gift cards? Once per month only please, no need send twice, it's alot!

5% is a joke for an unknown affiliate! You must be kidding.
 
Stop being greedy. Would you promote a product for 5% when other people are paying 50-80% ?

If you want to attract affiliates or sales people then you need to reward them generously for their work!

Figure out how to build a funnel and give them 100% commission and earn your money through the back-end system!
 
5% ? Well for that I would say anyone would pick Amazon. You said it yourself , not many re-orders so even if pushing some volume your affiliates makes $2.50 a sale (if we assume $50 selling price)... Nobody in their right mind would waste resources on something that is not able to be scaled with this low of commission.

Just like all comments above, you need to bump %, if not have fun just increasing the % all the time, after you already lost all potential affiliates..
 
I offer 75%-90% commissions on my products via JV Zoo - the idea is you build your list faster and make it all on the back end
 
You ask if 5% is too low, people give you good advice, then you say well I'm still going to pay 5%. What is the point in the thread? Here is my guess, you will not even attract one affiliate, and if you do, it will be something on CEOSams level.
 
5% for a 40-50 dollar product is only roughly $2 per sale. To put this in perspective, Amazon's lowest possible commission rate for newbie sellers is 4%, and if you make 8+ sales per month that gets bumped to 6%. I have built websites for multiple clients now that include Amazon affiliate marketing. If you're going to sell skin care products, just use Amazon's affiliate program and promote them through that. Why? Because! Then you are able to sell other higher end products too. Whole skin care packages on Amazon for $200-$500 each. You want to really get the ball rolling if you want to make the income you need.
 
75% though is not commonly realistic for a non-digital product. In fact it's pretty much impossible! The seller much make their money too, and with shipping, production, listing fees etc, you're looking at more like 10% commission being fair. Which is why I strongly suggest using Amazon affiliate program instead.
 
I think not bad, depends on quite average sales amount, if you sell 3 products per day: $9 x 30 = $270
by doing nothing will be good... is better than nothing
 
5% is completely shit unless you are selling ferraris ,

honestly head to clickbank and have a look on the percentage affiliates are rewarded with after each sale . I would go with 30-40% minimum ( from profit ofc )
 
Try gangbang or clickbank and you will understand why people say 5 percent commission is very less and not worth.
