301 backlinks can still help if the domain you're redirecting is strong, relevant authority- but don't rely on it alone. combine it with fresh content and solid SEO to see better results.

301 redirects can still give a boost, but only when the domain you are using has strong, niche-related backlinks and no spam history. Its also worth checking your site's content and tech steup - sometimes traffic drops are not just link-related.

Last but not least, your traffic is not down, it looks like it's up and down consistently, which can mean a lot of things, least of which is that you need to 301 a strong domain to your site.
I would look into other things first, such as:
- amount of published content
- internal links
- on-page and on-site SEO (technical SEO particularly), such as site speed, UX, mobile friendliness, schemas, that sort of things...
- authority (backlinks more specifically), trust and topical authority...

I used a 301 last month from a niche-relevant expired domain. Rankings jumped a bit after 2 weeks, but only for inner pages. So yeah, still works, but not like before.

301 backlinks from strong, aged domains can definitely give your site a push, especially if the link juice is clean and relevant. I’ve seen some decent recoveries using smart 301 strategies.

As others have mentioned, 301 should work fine if there's authority, but looking at this graph, you need a bit more than 301.
Focus on building higher quality links (PBN, guest posts, niche edits, links from strong domains)
That's a young site and I assume it's a new domain.. so you need to have patience and build more quality backlinks.

301 redirects do work up to an extent, I have always used it as a means to boost traffic but along with many other things. If you rely on the 301 only, it won't make a huge difference.
