I am planning to upgrade my phone plan. Right now I have unlimited talk and text only. When I need to use the internet on my phone, I connect to wifi.

But the problem is, sometimes I need to order uber and I am in the middle of nowhere so there is no wifi.

I could pay an additional $10 a month and get 1GB of data. is that enough to order Uber, lets say 20 times a month? How much data would I use every time I order uber?

Even 500mb enough i think
If your route is same
Map will b loaded once after that you don't required much data maybe 1-2mb for evey time you open Uber

More than enough to order a cab.

wow.. may I ask where are you from ? :) We get here 6 GB on prepay :)

Sure, if you not watching video using mobile network:)

@OP as everyone already confirmed, 1 gb is plenty for just uber few times every month. But remember that while you are using uber other apps can consume some data too, and if firmware decides to auto download updates, you are screwed. There are ways to stop other apps from using mobile data, make sure you check them too.

My phone plan is a 1 GB plan, and it's more than enough for me.

I usually use my phone's data to watch a few YouTube videos or just browse the Internet, and I only use about 400 MB each month at the most. If you're worried about going over your limit, set up data alerts on your phone at 700 MB, and set the limit at 900 MB to avoid going over the limit.

The only times I even get close to approaching my phone's data limit is when I go on business trips. I tend to watch several videos, browse BHW, browse Facebook, edit my sites, etc.
