Is 18k a good time to monetize?

My niche is healthy food and I've currently got 18k followers. I put my email in my bio a while back but only got one message which never worked out :( I get around 500 likes/pic also
In the long term I plan to get a site going and sell e-books or something but I'm gonna wait till all my accounts have way more followers to get enough traffic to run it.

Should I wait until I have more followers do you think, before I start monetizing?

Also is there a reason why nobody will send me an email wanting a shoutout or something else?

I agree that it wouldn't hurt to try, but if nothing comes of it I wouldn't push it much. Gain the trust of your followers first.

Personally I waited until 50k followers to monetize but I'm in an entirely different niche.

Hard to tell if it's the right time or not but in your case, instead of asking people to email you, send them to a squeeze page/optin page.

This is a perfect way to sell ebooks.

I'm a noob. Is an squeeze page/optin page something which asks them to give me their email address so in the future I can send out emails about eBooks and other stuff?

That's what I was thinking. Most of my followers are women so they might be offended easily if I ask them to buy stuff or to go to links etc.
 
I would suggest you to wait for sometime.
Get from 25 to 50k and then you can proceed on with the monetize

It is possible to start to monetize your account at 18K followers, but I would personally wait until I'm at least at 30K followers.

Yes, you can also redirect them to your ebook after they sign up. Email services such as aweber makes this easy for you.
 
Try to change description in your bio. I increase three times


the number of clicks on the profile link simply changing the description.
 
You should monitize right away. Having it monitized, from the beginning, gives you one less thing to think about. You don't need to force sales/clicks, but it only hurts you, when your visitors are unable to do so, on their own accord.
 
I am planning to make aN Ig account with a similar niche. Where do you get the pics to upload it to IG? Also if I copy the pics from someother account and if I upload it on my IG account without giving credits to them will I get banned?
