iPhone X: What do you think?

Let's face the reality, steve jobs is dead, and since then Apple isn't and will never be the same again.

Now, it's a good company like any other company, and if it wasn't for iOS and loyal customer base, it wouldn't be in top 3.

I like iOS, iphone was a breakthrough when it came out, but for the last few years, it has been miserably trying to copy competitiors and milk their customers as much as they can.

So, new iphones support fast charging but come with standard one... WTF !!!! Wireless headphones and you can buy the wire between them and the phone !!! R u fucking kidding me ...

Face fingerprint, so now anyone can tie you and open it whether cops or a thief!!! Are you fuckin retard !!!!!

3 years more and apple won't be able to hold it's position...

I used to be a very vocal apple hater, but then one day asked myself 'who cares?'. Apple is targeting a certain demographic, while Android phones target another. Yeah apple marks up their prices more so than other brands, but they also offer better customer service and an overall better user experience FOR THEIR DEMOGRAPHIC.

I have a macbook pro, ASUS laptop running windows and a bunch of linux dev environments running as virtual machines, Iphone 7 Plus and Note 5, and android wear watch. Apple products have their pros and cons, as do other brand products.

Just because you prefer Apple products doesn't mean you're part of the sheeple crowd. For most people I ask, people are willing to pay extra for the closed, extremely integrated ecosystem consisting of all their products.

Someone in this thread said something about "it's the experience" - that's a product. Most of us care about specs and shit, but seriously do you think everyone does? And WHO FUCKING CARES about specs!!! When you have the same team behind the hardware and software, you will get a superior product than those on separate teams. Performance and experience is more than just specs.

I loooove android devices and I will continue to buy and use them as my main phone. However, I'm not a blind fanboy. I know the flaws of android.

My #1 problem with Android (after developing a few apps) is that:
1.) They are fragmenting the mobile market
2.) Keeping things too open (without stricter standards) offers inconsistencies between applications***. This is huge. Try developing apps for different resolutions, different OS releases, different specs, different etc. etc. etc.
3.) Riffing off #2 - OS inconsistencies - Exploit found in Android v4.2.1, time for Google to patch it! Google patches it fast and rolls it out to their flagship phones. What about 95% of android phones built by different brands? Since they have control, expect an update months down the road.

Having consistency is great for the masses, especially for adoption.

Anyways - Two different products for two different types of people. The keynote was cool, the facial tracking was super spot on, and I like the direction Apple is going in terms of AR. Yes Google did it first (blah blah), but Apple is so good at bringing it to the masses.

Anyways, that's my opinion.

By the way, I am totally getting Note 8 or Pixel 2 XL this year.

My PC is quite fast and I don't plan moving away from there. I do miss Linux shell daily, but I have used Windows whole my life and I don't see a reason why it should change.
My phone, on the other hand, is getting uglier and weirder with every day. Every time when I swipe down to view wifi, bluetooth and other icons.. I just feel how a raging puke waterfall wants to come out of me. It's that ugly.

Pro tip: use Ubuntu on Windows, or Bash on Windows whatever they call it and get real shell there. It has some quirks, but works most of the time. Virtual infrastructure (Virtual PC actually works), helps as well. I must have some form of Linux on Windows, as Windows are pretty limited for any serious work.

Phone on the other hand I use only for 2-3 apps (mostly banking and chat apps) and messaging and calling. I am not the person that will put his whole life into phone that can be stolen or broken at any time.

Yup, that's why I don't care about iOS limitations.. and that's why I don't consider iPhone to be a bad phone.

I actually use Vmware Workstation and it's incredible, but it's really annoying to flip between Windows and Ubuntu :(

Who say that there are phones on android with beter specs better leave this thread. Yeah maybe there are phone with octa cores but are useless if the os is not optimized. iPhone 8 and x are the fastest phone in this moment.
The only thing that I don't like about iPhone x is that they removed touch id, idk but they should find a solution to place it.
A lot of people say that iPhones are useless but I think they never hold one in their hands for 1week.
The price is a kinda big for my country where the minimum salary is 250eur/month and an s8 would be a better option for our country, but I'm still thinking to buy one on Christmas because they have the best front camera for selfies...idk now I am using and Samsung s5 and I used an s7 and selfies look pretty weird on samsung phones, but on iPhone are more realistic.
Also I want to add that the price is a little big because they are not makint the display, I think they are buying it from Lg.

That is a reason why a lot of people choose iphone(especially teenagers), because of front camera.

You are just a hater. I don't think you owned a iphone ever.
I own an iPhone 5, have owned iPhones (used) since the 3Gs. I don't go any buy a new car because of the depreciation, same with a $1k phone. I see so many people financing depreciating assets, it's dumb as fuck. They're renting a home with all brand new technology that depreceates, brand new car that loses so much money.

Keep doing it so I can buy it in 3 years and don't take the loss, whilst furthering my investment portfolio

Couldn't agree more with this post.
Steve Jobs was Apple. Without him they are too scared of innovation. Not taking any risks, just copy-pasting what others do.
iPhone X is just a poor attempt at copying Samsung's S8. The strange notch at the top of the display shows just that. I mean, come on, the design is horrible. If you're going to copy someone at least do it right.
Face ID, Animoji and AR features? Most people will use those for a week and forget about them. Not to mention you can unlock the S8 with your face, it's just not called Face ID, lol.

So, basically, this is just a phone that celebrates 10 years of iPhone and nothing more. Just a phone for the fanboys that are too blind to see the flaws anyway.

And don't let me get started on iPhone 8. Just a rehashed version of iPhone 7. Just as iPhone 7 was a rehashed version of the iPhone 6S.
Nothing new, nothing fancy, just play it safe.

With this kind of no-risk approach and little to no innovation, Apple risks the same fate as Nokia.

Take all my money! I don't care, I want the iPhone X! :p

I like the looks of the X. If I remember correctly the hardware between the 8 plus and X are identical and you're paying for FaceId and full screen. I think the Animoji is a gimmick but I'm sure the kids out there will find it funny or useful? There is nothing new with these phones you can't find on other phones. I do agree Tim Cook is playing it safe and rehashing the work Steve Jobs did. I think it goes to show how visionary Jobs was. Sadly, I don't see Cook taking a chance on something innovative because Apple already has a good thing going for them for now. I mean every phone out there has the original iPhone to thank. Whoever reinvents the smart phone is going to bank big.

I have no problem paying for $999 for the X, especially if I get free 24 month financing to pay it off.

I have not purchased it yet. But according to me front face recognition will provide more security to the stored information.

Sad, but true. The iPhone X is quite nice though...^^
