Yeah, you can earn pretty much (over 10k month) if your product is high quality and it has high rankings and you have good luck, because nowadays I think it's bit oversaturated cos many people are making games and apps for hope of money.

Yes, you make your apps with Iphone SDK. I think it is pretty easy to use even for newbie and has great tutorials how to start make simple apps. Althought you need iPhone/Touch and Mac.

I have been messing with the Titanium Mobile SDK (google it) and it allows you to create iphone apps using standard HTML / Javascript. Another similar project is phonegap.

With these wrappers it is possible to make an iphone app that can easily be converted into an andriod app without needing to learn Obj-C (iPhone) or Java (android).

If you come up with a hit app it's probably possible to make some decent $ off ads with admob or some other iphone ad network. Hit apps on the app store usually peak then die down and it's hard to build a sustainable revenue stream from the app. There is an app for everything already, but if you have a unique idea go for it!

I'm looking forward to creating some iPad apps when I get my hands on one next month!

As much as it may seem to be easy to make money in the iPhone market, your rankings have to be GREAT and your app has to be pretty good for you to make much money at all.

I work for a company who has two apps out right now and we've been pretty high in our category, but never made it to the top 100 in the app store... thats typically where you're going to make the money.

If you can get your app into the top 10 of the top 100 of the itunes store.. you could probably make between 2-10k per day...

If you're app is something thats been done before and not very attractive then you're probably looking at a couple dollars a day.

One pointer though.. iphone apps NEED to be marketed. With so so so many iphone apps out there it's almost like a website. You can throw any website up and no one will ever know about it... we have a youtube channel with over 15,000 subscriber and are building our email lists with iphone users daily.

Something we've started for iphone app developers is the AppCalendar... you might want to check out about getting a spot there for some good promotions. We do one review per day all year and we've had successful results. One person wrote us saying their sales went up 400% on the app we reviewed for them and his other apps went up 30% by association.

check it out.. might help you out appcalendarDOTcom

my app has been in the store for about 60 days with NO marketing and consistently makes me money, enough to say I am in the black, that is development costs are covered and now working on pure profit.....
Depending on the complexity of the APP I can get it built for under $750! My go to guy on this is very bright and all he does is iPhone apps, and soon iPAD apps....
lets talk about your vision...no promises though

You still have a 1 month head start to get in on the iPad App Store goldrush. The early adopters will buy everything! 1 year from now every possible iPad app will have been made and we will be where we are today with the iPhone app store.

Even if you can come up with something mildly successful, 3 people will copy the idea and make their own recreation of it for cheaper.

The guy with the youtube channel and the website is the smart one. Keep selling the same people who like to buy new stuff. There is good value in being able to bring eyeballs to app store buy buttons.

I saw an news article out there that said Apple takes 25% or your app sales price yeah?

Also I think with more and more people jailbreaking their phones and getting apps for free you would need something pretty viral and niche to make good coin.

That being said the dev studio down the road from me created that App "Flight Control" and made 1 Million from it. But they had a whole team of developers etc to pay so I think that take home pay from the app would have been a lot lower
