Ok now is the time to get into Iphone Applications. Just got the new Iphone 3g and the apps are hit and miss. But if you can find a nice niche like golf, fishing, fantasy football etc etc and build an application(or hire someone outsource key to success)on Iphone then you can make some serious money. I would suggest Free App cause get more downloads and there are many ways you can make money giving free iphone apps look at Facebook apps at the begining people made tons of money ;) Anyway just want to start some thoughts on this. Also banner advertising and email zip submit would be first suggestion on making money on any app created. So what does the BHW community think?

I got my new iPhone 3G the morning it came out and that's one of the first things I realized! There are so many people buying these applications but there are so few applications, any solid app that isn't shit will be on the top 10 applications list on the homepage within a couple of days.

    I think there's A LOT of potential..

Ya gotta strike when the iron is hot. You can add a little bhw magic with fake reviews on your own app to drive up your rating on itunes app store.

Oh god, the fact that I don't know shit about programming is driving me crazy because I would be jumping on this opportunity so fast.

Just because you dont know how to program doesnt mean you can't hire someone. Thats how i get all my projects done. I can barely send an email. But i had some sick apps on facebook when they first came out. Be creative on deal brokering if you dont have the money to hire someone. Find a programmer willing to do an equity share. You do the marketing and they do the programming something like that. Most programmers don't know how to market. And most marketers don't know how to program. If you a marketer then be the best. Cause its impossible to be the best at both not enough time. But you certainly can hire them. Look, for exampl on the back of the iphone says "Designed by apple in California" "Assemble by China". Every Major company outsources technology assembly and even design. If you don't realize that soon. You are going to be left in the dust. That makes the difference between the small guy and the Giant money machine.

Keep in mind Apple gets a 30% cut of any sales from your app. If it was freeware and you monetized it some other way then I imagine you get 100%. ?? You also need to be running a mac with OSX to use the Iphone SDK (software development kit).

What are some of the most popular apps on there right now?

I'm a programmer, if I saw there could be some good moola in it I would probably give it a go. (although I'd have to run a Mac OS X emulator on my PC and the Iphone Emulator on the Mac emulator, hah!)

    Let's make a black hat game. :D

The creation of apps for the iphone was mentioned last week on a call by Jack Humphrey in relation to his local directory project (www.dnamembers.com/sales.php) .ree

Is it easy to learn to create these or just outsource?.. They said the upload is free to the iphone marketplace..
    :)

Apple goes and manually accepts or denies all apps.

It's to make sure one niche doesn't get overpopulated with apps.

People have figured out how to crack apps and get them for free on websites like http://www.appulo.us that have free downloads. This doesn't seem like developers would make much money any more.

I have heard of developers making upwards of $2000 a day. I think there is still a whole lot of opportunity there. I actually was going to try and do so, but I don't have a MAC and installing on a windows machine was a pain in the royal f*ing ass! I think I am about to order a MAC mini just for this purpose though here in a few days.

Yep, there is an SDK but you need to be running it on a MAC.

iphone apps are easy to make but the likes of ximscreamingx's app is a little risky because if you want in appstore they check a lot of things for security, but if your uploadig it to something like a jailbroken phone its fine.

I did some for facebook the problem with this thing is that you gotta code it and it takes time and hiring someone else means u gotta pay him and sometimes they don't do that of a great job.
