iPad good for Internet Marketing?

Hey mates,

I need some thought on this. I'm not one of these guy's, who buy stuff like an iPad just for fun. I'm just thinking about how much I can get done with it, when I'm traveling & working.

Currently I have planned to take a laptop from time to time to places with me & of course a smartphone for emails, phone etc.

The advantage I see in the iPad is, the small size. But that's not enough to justify the price.

What kind of "work" I think about?

- TeamViewer + Meetings
- RemoteDesktop to check running tools on VServer
- I guess posting articles on blog's is easy
- Skype?
- Excel table editing
- Mind-Maps (should be an app there)
- Fast switching between browser & excel with s.th. copied
- Editing simple PHP files & uploading again with FTP?
- ...list goes on.

Would like to hear some thoughts.

P.S. Forgot to add the iPad for quick sales pitches. That would be good aswell in some times.

It might be useful, but keep in mind its pretty much useless if you want to get any actual work done that involves typing. Like you say making blog posts, but unless you can type ridiculously fast on a touch screen, thats going to be an issue.

Personally I have found a netbook far more useful, however I know that there are some people that swear by their iPad.

Samsung Serie 7 Slate looks like it's more what I'm looking for.

Even though I dont have my personal Ipad someone in my family does and I cannot work on it apart from doing basic work. I need a laptop to work in full view. I would love to have an Ipad one day but that is only for personal stuff not IM.

Well you can buy a Bluetooth keyboard, but yeah any extreme multitasking would require an actual computer.

I love my iPad though. So nice to be able to chill in the recliner comfortably without having a computer in your lap. To turn it on you just unlock it. No waiting for a laptop to boot.

I haven't used my laptop or netbook barely at all since I got my iPad. Everyones needs are different though.

Find something that has a nice size and runs on android. Alot of the major android tablets have keyboard accessories so typing isnt a issue either

You can get skype, but Www.imo.im is much better then skype, faster and much easier to chat with multiple users, it comes as apple app too

i would say an ipad brings in alot of relationship building convo during conversations/meetings... people just like apple.

My iPad is totally superfluous but I do love it. it sits next to my desk and syncs with my calendar. I use a productivity timer on it in the background to help make sure I'm on task and taking breaks and going back to work at the right time. I use it to take Skype calls as they come and also to mindmap whenever I'm trying to work a problem out (this is pretty often, sadly).

Not really anything I -need- an iPad for, but we have a good relationship on most days. I think more than anything I use it to keep organized and productive since I'm not very good at that on my own.

I agree. Nothing that I couldn't go without the iPad but I love it. Mainly use it for reading. Catching up on forums/blogs/ books I bought from amazon ect.

I have enough apps to do most of the things that I need to do, but for most real tasks doing them on a computer is easier. If, however, you're just running out for a day or so, or dont need to do any hardcore computer work for a few days then it's nice to have the instant on iPad rather than lugging around the heavy (lol) MacBook pro.

All the things that you mentioned can be done on the iPad without problem, remote desktop apps are very cumbersome though.
