IP ADDRESS OWNER?? How To find??

I need to know what business a IP address belongs to. These scumbags keep coming on my site and I have a feeling they are copying my site. Any way to find out who owns it aside from a ip look up? That just tells me it is a comcast business ip.

if you think you're site is being copied, go to the pages theyre looking at (on your site), do a copy and paste of each whole page's written content into google search and if any other websites come up in the search results check them out individually for plagiarism and if you find a positive result, you'll have found your villains...

...other than that, i'd be interested to know another solution from one of our wiser members

First I would go to the website you think is copying your material then whois.sc them and find their IP address and match it up with some raw logs from your hosting files also see if you can find out who is hosting the website (keep that tid bit of info).

Second I would use/invest in copyscape (just google it) and then you can find out if it is more than 1 website.

Third if you can prove its them and its your original content then hit them with a DMCA complaint and if they don't respond to that then send one to their hosting company who will take down their website. If all else fails threaten to sue the hosting company.

**remember has to be original content that you created(this is really important)**

You can also block the IP address* using a .htaccess file.


* assuming your site is hosted on an Apache server.

You can get the address like in movies lol you are not FBI , block ip from your site

Welcome to BHW, friend.

Already been mentioned above, you can locate the owner via the host from the WhoIs. In some cases you can even find the person's/business address.

Making useless comments to increase your post count doesn't work here.

only problem with that solution, is that the o.p. doesnt know who is visiting his website or why, let alone what their website url is (thats IF theyre copying his material and posting it onto thie website)

good, solid idea. i was going down the inexpensive route when suggesting a copy and paste of o.p.'s own material into google.

here's a question for you, do you as a hosting business charge an admin fee to your offending clients for all the time your hosting business spends on responding to dmca notices generated by their plagiarist activities? if not, you ought to as they havent got a leg to stand on in terms of defending themselves....

blocking an i.p. address using ht access: its not something thats ever cropped up for me, but its worth knowing. wouldnt have a clue how to do it myself, but then again, thats the magic of youtube - bringing an expert straight into your own office to talk you through what needs to be done....

We do not charge our customers an admin to offending customers we work with them and follow our established TOS that all customers agree to when they purchase, if they violate more than once we will ban you and refund your money its really simple that way for us we'd prefer to remove ourselves from the situation rather than get caught in the middle.

The owner of IP is a ISP who owns that range, the line which is related to that IP belongs to the one of the ISP users, the person who pays them for adsl, cable or some other kind of internet connection. There is no way that you could get their information unless you raise a sue and sue them for a online fraud, which i think, you can't do. But if that IP is same all the time ( fixed ) you can blacklist them.

Try to find their website, and send a takedown notice. Also block their IP.
