So I have a website (landing page only) that i'm trying to rank in google. I have done all the necessary stuff (backlinks, social bookmarks, shares, etc. etc.) but i'm positive the only reason it isnt on page one (its currently on page 2 for targetted kw) is because it has virtually no content. The thing is, putting content on it will disrupt the outline and plan I have and make it unattractive to users (imo).

Question:
Is there a way I can put content on my landing page but HIDE the text by making it invisible, in such a way that it will still be picked up by google spiders and help my website ranking?

If I put the content on there but just use a css edit such as "display: none", will it work?

I highly doubt lack of content on the page will be the reason, how did you decide this was the reason?

Loads of people rank landing pages with no issues so there must be other factors impacting your rankings.

Yes, you COULD make the content invisible and the Google Bot may pick it up but invisible content is a TOS Violation of Google so you're going to want to be careful.

Yeah you can cloak that content out for real visitors. But one thing to look out for in landing pages IMO is overoptimization. If it's just too targetted at your kw's you may want to remove H1 or H2 tags, make it more natural, sometimes this is enough to get it up several positions.

Don't use invisible texts or anything that may put your site at risk.

You can use collapsing divs, it hides texts properly and only shows when the user clicks. Here's a good read on making landing pages google friendly:
