Investing in New Website...Need Advice

Hey everyone. I have built several niche content sites and monetized them through advertising and affiliate links. Up until this point, I've never really done much in terms of link building. I did 5-10 guest posts early on with each, but then they were pretty much focused on content moving forward...

I'm getting ready to start a new site, but this time with my business partner (offline business). We are treating this as a business and want to put some serious time/effort/money into the site to make it a true authority site. I know that I'm going to need to build some serious links. I still think that "content is king", but we also don't want to wait for 18 mos for articles to start ranking (it's a competitive niche).

My main concern is getting slapped by the big G for building too fast, or building low quality links. We obviously aren't going to be doing any comment blasting or any other spammy style link building.

I know there are great link sellers on the forum and I've selected a few that we want to utilize.

How should we start building links to avoid getting hit by Google? As long as the links are from actual websites with traffic, does it matter?

I would focus on content and just make some legit looking links such as guest posts here and there

If it is a local business the I wouldn't go for content other than then required pillar pages of around 2000 words and then a few filler articles to complete the silo. I would recomend focusing on the on page optimization for multiple keywords..

This isn't a local business. It's set up to be a national authority content driven site.

Unless you guys are focusing hard on branding i would just start off with a good expired domain.

"How to avoid getting slapped" -> impossible question to answer, but you can link much safely to an expired domain, and also it will rank much faster than a new site.

No it doesnt matter, make sure you dont push google to index your links through link indexer

Let your backlinks index naturally and you are good to go.

in case some backlink doesnt get indexed for two or three weeks then use the indexing services

Go for it. Make sure your content is strong. and as you said in your post "put some serious time/effort/money into the site to make it a true authority site"
