Would you like a beer? If not I have bottled water. Let me introduce myself. On BHW I'm going by TeamUnlimitedIncome.
I'm a pretty private person. Been online since probably 93/94. Made a few bucks back then promoting gambling websites. During it's hay day I was probably doing close to $6k a month. Business soon died off after about a year and a half. Either because my day job interfered, because software rapidly advanced, or maybe because I became a little lazy thinking that I could slack off a bit on promoting myself. It probably had to do with all of that and then some.
Then I started another internet business around 1997, it lasted until about 2002. During it's hay day I peaked out around $9k a month. That only lasted a short time, but consistently I was earning about $7k a month. That is until my good ole day job interfered with my side gig and I lost my biggest customer. This customer was paying me $4k a month.
I was heart broken, but I did manage to put a nice chunk away to buy my first house. Business eventually died off, because I let it. I had a good job, but was commuting a 130 miles one way to work and working 16+ hours a day (in this case being on salary sucked). I grew tired of the commute, had a child and eventually found employment elsewhere. Looking back now, I would've probably been able to retire relatively young if I would've kept that job. The company stock went from less than $10 to well over $140 since then. When I left I cashed it all out (stupid choice) and used the funds to fund an offline business that didn't do that well. I sold that business two years later and almost broke even.
A few years later and a couple of natural disasters later my savings was pretty much diminished. I switched jobs up a few times for more money and long story short I haven't really started another online business since then. I've sold software (about 1,000 copies), but no real business. I even ran a newsletter for a couple of years, but never made more than about $1200 a month.
For the last several years I've kept a notebook next to my bed to write in..they're brain storming ideas, marketing ideas, software ideas, money making ideas, etc. I know the ins and outs of the web, programming, server admin, etc. and now it's time to put some of my outside the box ideas to the test.
Glad to meet you. Thanks for reading.
