what are members thoughts on intro threadsauto locking
after say 72hrs , it might avoid some threads in there
inflating to 30/40 posts, stop members bumping old
intro threads. just a thought

I find nothing as useless as the replies to the intro threads. I get it, people want to say hi when they register.. but after that .. everything becomes "welcome"

probably 80% of intro posts are just welcome to bhw over and over.
thats why my thinking was 72hrs thread auto locks , now there will still
be people mass spamming welcome to bhw, but they wont be able
to it on threads made a week/month/ or months ago

Agreed. maybe also lock 10+ years old threads. i hate it when im browsing homepage and then some thread made in March 2009 pops up...

Depends if the OP is still active or not. And depends on the content maybe? Best is to report such threads, and let mods decide.

Yup, avoid members from necroposting

intro posts are just that, hello hi nice to meet you, not a thread to run
for weeks with tens of welcome to bhw , that is not content

Instead of autolock thread, thread posted in intro section should not increase post count.

Yes a very valid suggestion let's see what mods have to say in this

i get it, the intro section is the place where members start,
nothing wrong with that, i also get members will welcome a new
member, nothing wrong with that, but

when a thread is still being replied to a week, 2 weeks later
and then the thread maker then goes back and starts replying
to everyone , the thread then gets even more welcome to bhw on it.

i remember back in 2015, i use to reply to 5/7 intros a day BUT
it was always a 2/3 line reply, offering info tips ect, and i got a polite
tap on the shoulder saying less is more, now i barley touch that section

yet some new members still rattle off 10/15 crappy welcome to bhw
and when i report them, some get docked, some dont.

I think this is a good idea, especially when thes eposts count towards post count.
