So a prospect was referred to me with a Negative Auto Google suggest issue. (E.g. of Negative Auto Google suggest below for those who don't know) Prospect had 3 negatives key phrases e.g. Name surname scandal name fake rubbish name surname bankrupt I explained that there is a 10pack with auto google suggest Meaning that since his negative phrases were in position 3,4, 5 respectively of the Auto Suggest results, we would have to create at least 8 key phrases. Hence pushing 3rd out to 11 4th out to 12 5th out to 13 ''Usually at this point I would pause and wait for them to say ok so the price is and I would reply per phrase costs $300 so for 8 = $2400 monthly'' But he interjected and said ok so I have to pay per word right i.e ''name surname word'' or '' name word word '' ''He then said to me so that's 24 key words so how much is that''. This is that awkward moment when you didn't expect that the client would have a higher expectation of price that you were unprepared for. For a split second I was going to say yes $300 per key phrase = $7200 But honesty got the better of me. TBH I had semi judged the book by its cover and hadn't expected the prospect would have the means to pay up to that. You know when you think of clever stuff you should have said when you have an argument same applies here : What I should have said was ''yes are you looking for the premium service'' Or at least qualified why he thought like that perhaps with a ''Ah I see you've been doing your research online'' and if he said yes I would have then taken off 15%. Moral of the story Don't judge a book by the cover. I know someone else may have had a similar situation or might soon face one so be ready just in case. Interested to hear other ORM specialist thoughts perhaps 7878 and Jback on how they would handle such a situation.
