So I was talking to my Personal Trainer, and he just added a blog, and all that fun stuff to his site.

We spoke about Internet Marketing about about driving traffic and, all.. He's just getting started on possibly marketing online.

This is where I think I might be able to help. I'm no pro, but i know theres article marketing, google business listing, etc.

I checked a few keywords for local PT his site does not come up..

So I'm thinking bout offering him some IM, for exhange of PT.

What do you guys think the best way would be to offer him this and actually produce results?.

I'd like to offer him the service and make it win/win, and obviously beneficial for him...

any ideas would be greatly appreciated

You could simply present him with your knowledge on the matter, let him know you've done this for a few years to promote your own personal websites and you'd be willing to help him out if he could help you out.

A friendly conversation would be all it should take. Though if he's already got a website, he may already have a "guy" for that.

Here is what you need to do:

Do some keyword research on some long tail keywords and see if there are any sites in the local area that are ranking on google for those terms ("personal trainer yourtown" "yourtown personal trainers" etc..)

Register a domain that is based on the most popular long tail keyword (www.yourtownpersonaltrainer.com)

Build a 5 page site in WP around those keywords, get it to rank on the first page of google for those terms.

Setup a lead capture tool on the front page (autoresponder) with a message like "find the best personal trainers in your area and get your first training session FREE!)

So think about this...you have a site ranking #1 on google for what he does AND your generating leads for him with the autoresponder.

Approach him and explain this to him and show him your list of leads....flip it for $997. He will buy...or one of the MANy other PTers in your area will. Its money in the bank for both of you.

My bad I didn't fully understand the question then.

I guess I would suggest a hard PPC campaign, probably geo-specific.

Here is what you need to do:

I looked into this and yeah there is a few companies and personal trainers that pop up, but his site is nowhere to be found.

How would i find out which is the most popular?

finding the keywords is the easypart, do i just get a bunch of artiles that revolve around those keywords?how do you get it to rank?is the problem

    Ok i get this

So think about this...you have a site ranking #1 on google for what he does AND your generating leads for him with the autoresponder.

Approach him and explain this to him and show him your list of leads....flip it for $997. He will buy...or one of the MANy other PTers in your area will. Its money in the bank for both of you.

Thanks for your ideas greatly appreciate it

I didnt read what the other guys have suggested.

But I actually am a personal trainer and do all my own im stuff.

obviously the black hat stuff works exceptionelly well with boosting page rank and all that, but I do know that some stuff is not so good due to the fact I dont want my pages to be banned.

What I have done that has boosted my page rank in organic and local is a few things.

1.I use a squeeze page to send traffic to me.
    2. All my marketing is done with cl, facebook, referrals as well as search engines
    3. targetted keywords *city name personal trainer, personal training* etc
    4. I have submitted a few press releases. Right now I am doing a pr link wheel using other peoples press releases rewritten and re submitted
    5. submitted a few google local business locations * key for this check center of the city locate business there*
    6. Target numerous citys with seperate pages.
    7. I have used a few of the web 2.0 stuff but have not noticed any traffic from it.

So really I have jumped page ranking up to 3 spots in local + about 5 of the top 10 search results. the pr's as well as my page are all up on there.

cl spamming has helped a ton as well. Pm me and Ill send you my link and help answer any other questions.

Ohh also training vids on youtube, viddler and a few others jump high because no one does them.

Beating search engines for most cities pt is quit easy because no one really does it right.

You can convince him to pay you a good amount as there is a guy selling something similiar to jeff johnsons underground training lab for persoanl trainers for around 2000 upfront and 200 a month. So you can definetly convince him... If not go to another trainer and sell them on it.

Also make sure to do citypersonaltrainer/training.com or something similiar

yea even if there just a webinar, or a quick snippet of a client training or testimonials... Just make it so its city name personal trainer, city name personal training, city name fitness, city name gym
and you will literally dominate google, bing, yahoo.

I have helped a few PTs in my area and ads on CL + Videos (properly KW tagged) with Before and After of Clients + Email Marketing has worked really well.

You have to tell your PT to get everyone's email he meets or talks to about training and blast them with weekly specials or info on clients that are seeing success.

One PT told me that hiring a trainer is an emotional purchase, so he sends emails weekly just to be top of mind because when someone finally feels they need one, you only have a certain amount of time before they talk themselves out of it and think they can get great results by working out on their own.

EDIT: Just talked to the PT I know who uses emails and he said that he makes sure to build marketing campaigns around the TV show Biggest Loser (fyi, show in U.S. about fat people losing weight in case you don't know), he'll send an email right after the show and over the days following and always picks up 2-3 more clients/per week. Might be an idea.
