Of course. Let's say you're the best rapper in the world, but have terrible marketing. You'll never get noticed. Imagine if you're good and you have internet marketing on your side. Now that formula equals success my friend.

I disagree i really think that a rapper can become famous through IM. It's a new day and age in the music industry. You don't need a label to promote your music anymore when you have things like youtube and itunes. There are guys out there in all music genre's making a killing online that are label-less and simply promoting themselves.
if you'd like some examples in the hiphop world check out these two rappers LIL B and Mac Miller. I believe both are signed though now.
bottom line is promotion is promotion whether your passing mix tapes out of the trunk of your car at the flea market or passing out links to your youtube video, once people know your name and like your music, it's on.

I feel like we should offer IM services to local rapper's, label it as "Promotion" and then charge them for the traffic they recieve. It's offline IM and is very profitable. $100 for every 50,000 views ..you know, stuff like that. It not only helps you with easy money, but it can also help the rapper actually get out there. Fair to say?

This is my dream. It depends on many factors. How well you can relate to people, how good your flow is and whether you have a great way of getting your name out there. I would spam every rap youtube vsubscriber etc..
