I always hear about link building to your domain/main url.

Should I also be building links to my internal pages?

domain.com/keyword_page/

If so, what kind of links would be best?

Do they need to be as quality as the ones to your main page?

you stick backlinks to pages that got contant for the backlinks .

if all your internal pages got content that need promoting then add backlinks .

best backlinks are niche related to your niche/website.

all backlinks with heigh da and clean are good backlinks no matter what they are.

I believe you are talking about backlinks to your internal pages.

You should build contextual backlinks from relevant content to your internal pages to help them rank. These pages will usually see keyword, partial keyword and long tail keyword anchors. While your home page will see the majority of the branded and naked URL anchors.

Yes I am talking about building links to internal pages. site.com/keyword-page/.
I've done a lot of link building to my main urls, but have never really done it to the internal pages.

Sounds like you need to use the same quality links to the internal that are used on the main url.
Getting expensive :)

Yep, all the links pointing to your money site should be quality. SEO is a lot more expensive than in years past
 
Yeah you have to do link building to your internal page also, Give same backlink power to your internal page not only building links to your main page.
