Hi there, new to Black hat here and the articles i've read so far have been great! I've been looking at our internal linking structure and ran it through AHREFs to see the following results returned. Are these huge amounts of internal links likely to be hampering our site? I believe they must be coming through the megamenu that is displayed on every page. Cheers!

Apologies, new account so cannot post image. It looks like we've got 6000+ links to each individual page (all top level category pages and quite important). I'm assuming this is due to the mega-menu being visible on each page.

dont use ahref for internal analysis. not accurate.

use screamingfrog which actually goes and reads everypage and gives you the complete picture of internal links.

Can you prove that or cite some sources?

I'll download it to give it a go, can you however confirm whether extreme amount of internal backlinks to each internal page could cause issues?

Cheers guys.

download the tool and see it for yourself. it is free for up to 500 pages in a site.

also see this site: https://www.youtube.com/user/jbachyns/videos
2 videos made about 2 months ago that does deep analysis on how you should use screaming frog. do a word search on the page for "screaming" , you should then find the 2 videos.

if you are asking for proof on ahref not being accurate, then compare the results from screaming frog and ahref and you will see for yourself.

Thanks for the replies guys. So is this likely to cause us any ranking issues? I assume it'd water down our "SEO Juice" from backlinks etc?

Cheers.

Links on your own site won't cause problems. You can link to much though, if a site has 500 pages, not all should be in the main nav menu. try and keep it to around 5% of total page, so a 500 page website would have about 25 pages.

Cheers for the reply, done a bit more digging on it and it seems that they're in "NAV" tags so it shouldn't be tracked and should all be good?

Thanks again.
