Fantastic book. Love Ray Kurzweil, Singularity University and all of the work that Peter Diamandis is doing. Ray's vision of the future is probable, but albeit somewhat scary.

If you're into AI some good starter books would be Our Final Invention by James Barrat, How to Create a Mind by Ray Kurzweil, and The Master Algorithm by Pedro Domingos.

I highly recommend Super Intelligence by Nick Bostrom. Its a great book about the future of AI.
Obviously wont help you to actually code, for that you need to start a project and learn from Coursera, Udemy .etc.

If you are engineers, I suggest you to read two technical books "An introduction to statistical learning with applications in R" and "Applied Predictive Modeling".
They provide the basis knowledge you need to dig into AI and apply Machine Learning (ML) algorithms.
As a data analyst, I read them many times and also apply authors' advice into my problems.
For anyone who loves Math and would like to have a deep knowledge about ML, the must read books are "The Elementary of Statistical Learning" and "Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning".
All these books can be found via libgen .io website.
