About a month or so ago I started a thread trying to discuss an idea of an Alexa trading site.

After some additional weeks of scaling up and testing this with a group of 32 online business friends, I've confirmed that it has to be working.

So my question is, would you guys be interested in an Alexa trading site?

The concept is simple, each day there would be a list of members sites that you visit with the alexa toolbar installed. The more sites you visit, the more visits you earn to your own URL's on a 1 to 1 ratio.

I have no idea how many members visit BHW everyday, but as you can see, it has a 4,020 rank as of today and that is because many of us have the alexa toolbar installed and visit all the time.

Now to me, alexa rank is no big deal, but what it can be used for is heavily increasing the value of a site you want to sell, or getting top dollar and tons of advertisers buying spots on your site if you want to join a network like adbrite for example.

I'm only going to build it if it's something that people would want, obviously to do it right I'm going to have to pay someone to write me a script to credit members each day etc.

alright, well the key would be having at least a few hundred users. So if enough people are interested, I'll have it built for them.
 
will be interested to see check it out, but there is a script already to increase your alea ranking that usese proxies..
 
what good is having an alexa rating as far as making money? I mean it looks nice, but what else does it do?
 
I think this would be a pretty cool system :)

you can make money with selling ads on the website that has good traffic rank, for example on adbrite, webmaster look for sites with good alexa rank and then pay pretty decent money for placing their ads on it.

while selling website, people look for websiteswith good alexa ranked site, sothats another plus point..
 
Now I just have to find a programmer who can write a good script for this so members get credit for all the URL's they visit.

Sounds like a pretty cool idea. I'd definitely be interested. Especially with adbrite advertising, that would be some easy cash.
 
Yeah I think using adbrite and other contextual ad networks would be easy money for a lot of people with a good alexa rank.

Not to mention some very blackhat things I could also mention which could be done once you start getting ads on your sites in order to keep them coming and for higher and higher costs :)
 
There were a lot of tricks to cheat alexa rank, why don't you use them instead of bothering with installing software and trading views?

From what I've personally found, a lot of the cheating tools don't work, and the ones that do, don't lower your ranking by a huge amount.

From testing, I've found that nothing beats real alexa toolbar users visiting your site each day even if they are repeat visitors.

This strategy would actually work 100% of the time and with enough members participating would significantly lower alexa ranks enough to get a lot of advertising buys.
 
what would be great (and you can charge a minimal monthly fee for this) would be to get two sites set up both exactly the same except....

on the more black site you allow automatic clicking by bots so the stats look even better when you go to adbrite etc

The idea is great. I myself can write this simple script but I need time to finish it. It will show only the links to the member of which he has visited.
 
I would need a site, but I wanted to join if you guys will do this.
