Hello,

I need some advice who knows about hard drives.I'm about to lease a dedicated server and I'm debating whether I should get 2 tb sata 2 or 240 gb SSD.240 gb is enough for me, but what I'm more interested in is the speed.I will be managing 100k+ files and each file will be around 500 kb, so I need some really good speed when it comes to reading and writing.

Can you pls advise me should I go with SSD or Sata 2

Btw, price doesn't matter and it's almost the same.

Also, if you could link me to a good resource to read about how SSD could be better or Sata 2 could be better, that would be great.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

SSDs have great read access speed, so since you are going to be managing lots of files, it 's the best choice. Make sure it 's a good quality SSD though, there 's huge differences among them - check benchmarks to find out more.

Upgraded from Sata 15k to Intel SSD 320 and load average went from 2-3 down to 0.25-0.75
