Hi everyone, I'm curious if it's even worth adding a forum to my blog page. I've been trying to increase the traffic and have thought about adding a forum to just add topics and vent more easily on a lower level than posting a more research-based blog? What are your thoughts and it is even worth my time and energy?

It depends , if you have the energy to grow and manage the forum, go for it. Just make sure its relevant to your blog.

On paper, including a forum onto a blog seems like a good idea.

After all the typical forum has so much content that there’s a higher likelihood that it will pull traffic from Google.

The downside to this is if you’ve been paying attention to webmaster forum rankings over the last five years is that Google has ben showing less love to forums for whatever reason.

That’s just a cold, hard reality.

Forums to put it simply, have fallen out of favor with Google.

It’s obvious that Google is more interested in established and more controlled information hubs like Reddit and Quora.

But if you are thinking about integrating a forum onto your blog let me give you another reason to think about it.

The second reason is that you need a lot of content for a forum to take a life of its own.

Unless your plan is to quickly set up a forum and then let it die, you need to be consistent in creating threads to mimic real conversations.

So, you’re going to be switching from different accounts to make it look like different people have joined your forum and there’s this actual organic conversation happening among those people.

That’s a lot of work.

Are you willing to put in the time?

Are you willing to commit to this level of work?

Sure, each post may not be all that long, in fact you can even copy and paste a lot of your content but, the interaction has to look legit and this means switching from one account to another.

That’s quite a commitment.

Another alternative is that you can hire somebody from Fiverr, or quota-based outsourcing platforms like Cognoplus.

Cognoplus is great for forum marketing, because you pay people based on a quota you don’t pay them based on time.

But regardless, if you go the outsourcing route, your expenses pick up quite a bit.

Ideally, you should just leave forums out of blogs, because they require totally different site management dynamics.

Instead, just focus on stocking your blog with high-quality content that your targeted readers would actually want to read.

You don’t have to dump them all at once.

You can choose to stick to a disciplined blog-posting schedule, maybe five posts a month or less.

As long as you’re consistent and as long as you’re publishing content that people will want to read using long tail keywords or easier to rank keywords you should be fine.

Adding a forum to your website is always a good idea but it has other downsides as well. First of all you have to zero in on which Forum software you want to go for? If you go with bbpress, provided your website is in Wordpress, then installing forums in your site is very easy, but spammers will attack on yoru forum and create fake accounts for their own pleasure (God knows why) and you will end up spending more time handling the spam as bbpress has very limited features to battle with it.

If you use wpforo, phpbb or simplemachine then also you will face this problem. So if you are serious about Forum then I will suggest you to go for a premium forum softwares that provides cloud hosting with it like vBulletin or invisioncommunity or xenforo, etc.

yeah I was going to go with wpforo and actually set it up and started to slowly add stuff. Thank you for your opinion and insight. I greatly appreciate it! Ill stem away from the forum idea. I thought it would create more traffic since i thought it would create more of a community rather than just posting blogs. But this makes sense. And I've been paying more attention to the forum than the actually blog. Im still in the sandbox (started the website in mid April) so I'm just trying to think of ways to push more content to bring more traffic. From what I've been reading and seeing, the AI generator has been a rather popular choice for people to pursue in terms of traffic. So I'ma try that out. Both human and ai content to create more unique content. Thanks mate

Indeed you may focus on blog first and create some awesome informative content that ranks well. Even if you plan to implement forum in future, you can do so by installing forum software (premium offcourse) in the subdomain of your website so that it can be managed separately from the main site. Still it will enjoy the DA benefits of the main site.

All the best mate :)
