Hi,

So I have targeted one term which was having low competition, registered brand new domain and added 3000 words of content.

Got it indexed manually, boom, it was there on position 122 ! :D

It got knocked out after sometime, I guess couple of hours.
Does it mean its low competition? It didn't stayed on that position for long although.

What could have caused this?

No backlinks have been built at all!

For new websites the search engine crawl it and show it in results; depends on the overall content is unique informative as well as the keyword long or short - Talking to google; always love to provide unique informative content to users. There are many factors that search engine counts...

Why are you excited about 122? That is not a rank, that is just getting indexed.
Not excited, A day old site showed up so fast in serp,

I usually had to wait couple of days before it kicked in serps.

Nothing unusual about it, search engines may pop you somewhere to test the waters but anything after #100 is not even worth mentioning even without backlinks.

Muhahahahaaaaa... Your keyword seen at 122 and you call it rank! :P
What we call a rank: when the keyword is on top 5 on SERP. ;)

i tested 18 domains with 10 manually submitting to "submit to index" and 8 with natural index, guess what all sites which submitted manually was instantly indexed but didn't ranked at all.
My Takeaway: Never use "submit to index" trap by search engines.
