Realise this may be in the wrong forum however, i've downloaded a wordpress theme from gaaks & having a few problems installing it. Looked on Google, Youtube, to no avail.

When downloaded, it's a Rar file, and when uploading to wordpress, it gets to 100% and say's failed. Please try again. Any way around this? I realise it may need to be unzipped or something, but can't get my head round it.

Anyone?

Cheers :)

could be a corrupt file. I tried to upload corrupted template files before and that happens.

Try to upload it via a FTP Client (example: FileZilla)

Unzip the RAR and upload the theme folder to: wp-content/themes

Then go to your Wordpress dashboard and activate the theme

Remember now! I do believe this is how it's done. Cheers! :)

it's simple. themes and plugins must be installed as .zip if you want to install it without ftp

Unzip the rar and re zip it as a .zip. I don't think Wordpress can handle rar files. Try uploading it through the dashboard that way. If not just unzip and upload the folder named {theme name} (not the contents) to wp-content/themes via FTP.

Downloaded Filezilla, not a clue what to type in the port fields, user, server, etc. Christ almighty!! :)

Contact your host support as get them to provide the info. If you have cPanel, login and go to FTP accounts and you can create one and then use the credentials in FileZilla

download winrar, install it

unrar the .rar theme, right click on the folder it extracted to and archive as .zip

upload theme via wordpress

What host are you using? FTP server is yourwebsite.com or ftp.yourwebsite.com. Often the login and pass for your hosting account is the user/pass you use for FTP. Don't touch port (99.9% of the time).

or just do what suka and I mentioned above by turning rar into zip file and uploading through Wordpress.

Will leave the Filezilla option if Suka's option is much easier. Thanks guys, will post again if of no use!
