We hear about mass site de-indexing being tied to having google analytics installed, if you're doing BH. Some advise not to have anything G related tied to your site.

Having Google XML Sitemaps installed is nice, but is there a risk? Is there an alternative?

Well, think about it. A sitemap is made out of pure XML, unobfuscated clear humanly readable code that anyone could check. Would it hold any "fishy" stuff? No of course not - install and be happy.

Google XML sitemaps is a must, it works just like robots.txt, sharing your link structure to the engines. If it would have problems with google regarding to the indexed link, half the internet would have been deindexed dont you think?
