Instagram username change?

So is there any way that is possible to change a ig username, possibly from a profile that's dead or closed. I have been trying this for 3 years and they still won't let me do it

The thing is i manages to shut down the inactive account with username i wanted with help of just dew of my friends reporting it. Now the account doesn't exist and i can't get that username

The account was inactive for years...

Not too wise either. Until an account is inactive, there are a few possibilities to get the username, but when it gets disabled by Instagram, the username and the chance to get it is gone for good.

Possibilities to get the username of an inactive account:
1. Get in contact with the account owner and get the username transferred.
2. Get the username trademarked (costly process) and file a trademark violation.
3. Wait for Instagram to purge the account, which may never happen.

Well i guess it's gone for good then. I research this every few months to find if any method surfaced. I don't know why are they so strict about this

Hey mate, You could get back the same deceased person's account. You can use request the removal form on help center by providing an apt user details
Possibly revive your Instagram account from the dead.

I don't think it's possible to do that on dead profile
