Instagram had an update, this is just a friendly confirmation to answer anyone who might be curious. :)

Facebook as well

Aaaaand what is the update?
Global outage. Pages not working, users not able to login, posting doesn't work. Same goes for Facebook, Messanger and Whatsapp. 51% of the accounts are not functioning as normal. :D

Let’s start with the technical stuff.

In June 2018, IG delivered their brand-new algorithm, leaving businesses wondering how to compete in a brand-new environment.

In an official announcement, IG said that they wanted to make the algorithm “feel more fresh” – which apparently meant paying more attention to priority posts in user feeds. According to Instagram, the channel now ranks the value of post based on three main factors:

  • Interest
  • Timeliness
  • Relationship
This means that if you want to stay on top with the latest algorithm, you need your content to be relevant and up-to-date, but you also need to develop a strong connection with your target audience. Ultimately, the idea was to give people more of the content they wanted, from the people they cared about most.

Before the update, users only saw about 50% of their friend’s posts, while now, 90% of the average feed is made up of content from friends and family.

MOD EDIT - content came from here: https://upleap.com/blog/instagram-update/

Where did this come from?

Will having a business page for insights have a negative effect for getting your posts seen?

Isn't this linking to another forum? I did not mention it for that reason.

Can't say good or bad. But it will effect, yes.

If you feel my link is out of line, please report it and let a mod decide.
That's not what I said. Linked it and now people are asking why did I not reference. The reason why, was because I thought it was not allowed.

If it is, nvm then. They got the link now for reference.

I thought it was against rules to link to other forums...

I start to believe you are actually retarded.

You don't have to link to provide reference. You can say reference > name of person who owns the blog/name of the blog without the link... If its out of context or biased ad a mod will delete it anyway.

Anyway, that's a very cheap excuse for me to bait.

You cited a rule about promoting other forums. Since this is a blog from another SMM provider, I don't feel it falls under the forum promotion rule.

That said, this thread is about the Instagram updates, not a debate about the rules. If you're unsure on the details of the rules, you can contact the mods directly via report or PM, or make a separate thread in the Forum Feedback section.
