Instagram Suggested Users

There have been a lot of threads recently in relation to the low engagement on instagram and how it is going down for everyone. This one is going to be about engagement too but involving suggested users. If you look at the profiles of whom instagram is following it's basically a joke. Let's say if you go into the very first person it's following and check their account you'll 10k followers and...200-ish likes per photo?...and that's at best. It just goes down even further. Even better a 40k account with 500 likes. Not sure what sort of a game is going on but at least it makes me feel better that my engagement is not going all the way down to the level of examples above. Plus yeah, being suggested doesn't give you much I guess(apart from growth in followers of course). All of these people have been there for a while and no change in numbers.

Instagram is doing what they did to Facebook but a little more subtle.

Yeah, I was put on the suggested user list a while ago. In two weeks I accumulated 37k followers, while I was on the list (for two weeks) I was getting around 1k likes, but as soon as I was off the list my engagement has declined badly. I've lost 4k followers and now getting around 350-400 likes... I checked online the other day and a lot of my followers have actually deleted their accounts. It's kind of left me de-motivated and not inspired to take more photographs. I guess the suggested user list is a double edged sword!

yeah, I remember that you were on the suggested list. but here's a thing: why stop there? you already have a very decent start, just don't give up.the best thing is just post photos regularly but don't do much, after you've felt like you're ready to be back in the game become more active

Engagement sucks these days but sometimes it forces you to rethink your strategy and try to improve it.

So this is going suck if you're the lazy type.

I have an IRL friend who got suggested, you're typically on their list for 2ish weeks and majority of the followers you get are bad quality. Think about it, it's mainly people new to instagram who don't care about it who are seeing you suggested. It made me feel good about my engagement too as well

Instagram own by the same Crap of facebook. they will keep doing this.
