I have an instagram account with around 17k followers of a kinda specific entertainment niche. I'm wondering if advertising cpa through 24 hr stories are profitable; like how effective is it?

there's so many guys out there gain profits from it. I guess you can do the swipe CPA offer in the stories

Extremely profitable and highly advisable in my opinion.

Test and experiment with different offers and with the proper ad copy attached, you could make good passive income with IG Stories.

We have had guys do great with muscle offers and some hair offers through instagram stories.

It should work well as long as you pick an offer somewhat related to your niche and make sure that instagram doesn't penalize your account. From what ive heard you should use a landing page before the offer so the IG bots dont notice its an affiliate thing.
