What do you guys think about this change for the future of IG automation? They've already tested it in a few countries, and influencers experienced massive drop in engagement.

this will not happen

Why does hiding likes massively decrease engagement? People don't want to look at content unless they see a lot of other people have already liked it? Interesting.

Definitely a lot more people will share content if they aren't worried it about it not getting enough likes and embarrassing them in front of their more 'popular' friends.

haha people will join BHW

and yeah, IG seems like they are/were trying to remove this culture of chasing for likes and wanted to bring more authentic content. They would be helping the masses of people who post I guess and studies showed that the people with more followers experienced heavy drops.

for anyone interested, google Instagram removing likes , there are plenty of articles. Another reason they might try to do is to remove power from those who have larger followings, give more power to normal users so that people will go to IG ads over Influencers. Hoping this doesn't happen :)

I think of it as "people follow heat"
Seeing a large number of likes grabs your eye, and authenticates you have a good sense of humour. And people love being apart of a large community, that's why people comment on funny memes with thousands of comments, rather than funny memes with no comments, because there's more heat/attention

This will saturate the app with bad content, if you don't care about likes you won't care whether or not people like your posts. Next thing you know, thousands of shit posters come into explore

How will this affect explore pages and what the user sees upon searching? I assume the algo for likes to appear at the top of peoples explore page will be the same?

I'm certainly no expert on this matter but I don't see the point when likes are what people live and die for on the instagram platform. Maybe they know something we don't know.

So, they wanna take away power from those who make money.....

IG is cleansing itself, in other words. People are more happy to see fake likes & actions taken down. Also, latest story features seem more attractive.

Seems like there's completely mixed reviews, some are very against and some are very for. Interesting :)

Why ruin something that is making huge amount of money to you?

It has already proven to be a huge success in Australia I believe. They've already done it in several countries. It's already happening. I like it. All this fake bullshit will disappear. Everyone is doing engagement rounds. People don't post the content they want to post in fear of not getting likes.

I'm all for removing likes. Small minds can never comprehend changes like this thus the "IG WILL DIE WAAA WAA" comments.

Please speak for your area only, not for the world. As you live in Australia, and there's only 1 of you.

American's are complaining and it hasn't even happened , have you met an American and compared to an Australian?

Come on now.
