Which platform do you prefer, and why?

Depends on what,

For marketing both are good.

For consuming no one is good.
 
From my personal experience (have been on TT for about a year 290k followers) (Ig for a few years about 100k over a few accounts) , Instagram is better just because of the amount of problems TikTok has with you trying to drive traffic to your monetisation techniques. For example:
If i make a post on TikTok with a cta to my bio, even the retention rate and engagement is awesome, they wont give me me any reach. On instagram however, i put ctas, both in video and description and the video still reaches over 1m views most of the time. Also i believe having a high reall following on instagram is much more valuable then Tiktok imo.
 
In comparison to the Tok-tok platform, I prefer Instagram. Tok-tok is most certainly an enjoyable platform, but Instagram is shifting from enjoyment to commercialization. Spending time on Instagram for brands is going to be beneficial for brand growth in the future.

Hey mate, could you please help me understand some things about IG and Tiktok.
I have my personal accounts there and want to start sharing content that could become viral eventually.
At least I think so. I am doing boxing fitness etc, but never shared nothing. Tiktok I posted 0, IG is several years old without reels, with few k followers.

Could you please explain to me their rules for monetization and revenue for both networks?
I would appreciate any other suggestions. Seems that I need a killer 1st video to test my tiktok luck?
I know I can look up for that stats, but I would rather hear from you, as you seem to be experienced with both of this.
Also, my goal would be only views monetization for first few months. No links, except maybe in tiktok my @ighandle

Depend on your product.

If your product is under $10 or similar then TikTok

If your product is premium then Instagram.

Tiktok audience is not so premium as compare to Instagram.

TikTok have quantity but not quality. ( Talking about number of audience )
